Home Remedies for Wisdom Teeth Pain

From adolescence to the beginning of the twentieth century, many people experience the third attack of molars or wisdom teeth. Since the other 28 teeth are usually in place, they usually don’t have enough space to fit properly, which may cause pain in the wisdom tooth.

 Wisdom teeth often enter the tooth at an angle, get too close to another tooth, only partially enter the tooth, or do not come out of the gums at all. The molars are partially exposed, providing space for the capture and growth of food and bacteria. Unfortunately, all of these possibilities can cause wisdom tooth pain.

Although the only permanent solution is to see the dentist and arrange their removal, this is not always something people can do right away. Here are some tips at home that can help alleviate the pain of the wise while waiting for the dentist to remove the tooth.

Over-the-counter ibuprofen for wisdom tooth pain

 Ibuprofen is a pain reliever that should help temporarily relieve pain. Ibuprofen will reduce inflammation or swelling, thereby reducing the movement that often occurs. It is a temporary help and should not be used for a long time.

Apply an Ice Pack

Ice packs, small bags of ice, or even a bag of frozen vegetables are wrapped in a towel and applied to the affected area at intervals of 15-20 minutes every few hours to help relieve the pain of wisdom teeth. Adding ice will reduce the swelling around the wisdom teeth. Ice can also produce a numbing effect and help reduce pain. To avoid injury from the cold, do not apply ice directly to the skin or leave it for too long. 

Use over-the-counter Numbing Gel

Ask your pharmacist or doctor for over-the-counter anesthetics, which contain the active ingredient benzocaine, which helps numb gums. Anesthetic gels usually also contain astringents to reduce gum irritation and menthol to soothe the gums. There are several brand names and general options on the counter.

Saltwater Swish and Rinse

Add 1 or 2 teaspoons of salt to a cup of warm water and mix until dissolved. Rub the mixture in the mouth, especially around the painful area, for a minute, then spit it out without swallowing. Repeat as needed throughout the day. The saltwater will help promote wound healing and remove residual debris. You should feel relief after a few rinses.

Clove Oil/ Clove Buds

Clove contains an ingredient called eugenol, which acts as a numbing agent, can also reduce inflammation and help aggravate wisdom tooth pain. Moisten the cotton ball with clove oil, then place the cotton ball on the wisdom tooth. Let the cotton ball sit for 5-15 minutes before taking it out and throwing it away. If clove oil is too strong, try diluting it with coconut oil. Repeat as needed throughout the day. Instead of clove oil, stuff the clove bud into one side of the cheek. Let stand for 5-15 minutes, then remove and dispose of the crushed cloves.

Soak or rinse essential oils and vanilla extract

In order to relieve your pain, you need to mix the mouthwash with a few drops of vanilla extract and the following essential oils to soothe your pain. Roman chamomile, thyme, and coconut oil. Before spitting, make a circle in your mouth. Or, just use a few ounces of water to create the same mixture. Dip the cotton ball in the mixture and leave it on the affected area for 5-15 minutes; discard after use.

Use Turmeric as a Rub or Paste

Turmeric is often recommended as a home remedy for various diseases. It is believed to have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, therefore, it may also help relieve pain in wisdom teeth. Try applying loose turmeric to the sore gums. You can also make a paste by mixing baking powder, toothpaste, and turmeric. Rub the paste around the wisdom tooth, let it sit for a few minutes, and then rinse it off.

Wisdom teeth are likely not to grow fully, so you may feel pain on one of the four sides at a time. Thirdly, wisdom tooth pain is likely to be permanently resolved only by removing wisdom tooth pain. Trying some of the above techniques will hopefully make waiting easier.
